At Home Care.

A cheat sheet on taking the best possible care of your extensions at home.

K-Tips

  • Use a soft boar bristle brush. I will provide you with you with one after your first install. Brush 2-3 times a day supporting the roots with your hand to avoid tension.

  • It is VERY important to brush your K-Tips to prevent matting. Especially during cooler months when you are wearing high neck clothing; coats, sweaters, scarfs, etc.

  • Brush before you get into the shower to help with tangling. Brush your hair in the shower as well while you have conditioner in.

  • Wash gently with flat finger tips working your way down the head. You want the bonds to stay in the same direction. Condition mid shaft to ends.

  • DO NOT sleep on wet bonds. Sleep with a low loose ponytail or braid. A silk bonnet and pillowcase will also help reduce friction. You will be provided with one of these after your install as well.

  • Use your fingers to separate bonds daily.

  • Heat styling is fine but do not apply heat to the bonds.

Wefts

  • Use a soft boar bristle brush or wet brush. I will provide you with you with one after your first install. Brush 2-3 times a day supporting the roots with your hand to avoid tension.

  • You can use a claw clip in your hair to separate your rows/wefts to wash each row at a time. Using two fingers like a peace sign to scrub the top and bottom of the wefts.

  • Blow dry the top of your wefts/rows completely.

  • You do not need to vigorously shampoo the ENDS of your hair, focus on the scalp and around the wefts.

  • You do not need to condition the top of your hair, focus on the mid lengths to ends.

  • Use sulfate and paraben-free salon grade shampoos and conditioners, ALWAYS! I have all the products you will need for you at the salon.

  • DO NOT sleep on your wefts wet. Sleep in a loose braid or ponytail. A silk bonnet and pillowcase will help reduce friction, I will provide you with one of these after your first appointment.

  • The use of leave-in conditioners, heat protectants, and a conditioning mask once a week is highly recommended to protect your extensions.

Extra Tips!

  • When wearing hair in a high ponytail slightly pull the front corners of your rows to avoid any tension in those spots.

  • Before swimming, get hair wet in clean water and apply a conditioner or a leave-in on the lengths of your hair and put in a top knot or braid. Try to avoid completely submerging hair in water. You risk discoloring your wefts or drying them out.

  • After extra curricular activities such as working out, swimming, ect. make sure you dry the wefts immediately after.

  • When using sunscreen make sure it does NOT include the ingredient "Avobenzone" this will turn your extensions a peach color and is almost impossible to get out.

  • Do not use purple shampoo on extensions. It will turn them purple and dry them out.

  • Do not exceed 340 when using hot tools.
